A Soak and a Well Deserved Bed on our Way to Death Valley

Steph didn't sleep well. Her brand new Exped Mega Mat had a leak in it and the wind was getting worse. Around 5am she checked the weather report and saw that the winds would be increasing from the current 15 mph to 20 mph. We decided to pack up and head to Bend. We needed to get Steph a new sleeping pad at the REI.

We had some time to kill before the store opened so we grabbed coffee and some breakfast and edited our first trip video. Finally REI opened and the wind was getting really crazy it was a good thing we packed up. They happy refunded us for the mat and fortunately had the newer edition of the same model in stock.

We got back on the road for a long day of driving. The wind was strong. We saw downed trees and power lines across the state and heard from our friends that it hit 50 mph back in Portland.

We were tired, and it wasn't out of our way so we stopped for a soak at Crystal Crane Hot Springs. We had encountered this wonderful place to camp and soak the year before when coming back from a trip. The wind was strong so we opted for a private soaking tub to relax and prepare for the rest of the days drive.

We got back on the road and finally reached Nevada where we decided to stay at a casino hotel. We played some quarter slots and lost a few bucks. We ate a hearty meal and toasted to the next days adventure knowing we would be able to sleep well that night.
