Low Points and High Points in Death Valley

Low Points and High Points in Death Valley

The wind had finally settled down. We camped at Mesquite Spring campground with some German neighbors who were listening to the soundtrack from Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas.

Our first stop was Salt Creek to check out the pupfish. These fish have survived amazing climate changes and live in very hot water. We then hiked out on the Devil's Golf Course and then to Badwater Basin. Badwater Basin is the lowest point in North America, with an elevation of 282 ft below sea level. We also decided to head up to Dante's View (5,476 ft) to take in the grandure of the whole Basin.

We couldn't find a campsite that night so Wiley got a good night sleep at a hotel in Lone Pine.
