Terwilliger Hot Springs in the Willamette National Forest
When we have a weekend trip planned we typically are ready by Wednesday. We needed to get back out after a weekend not camping. The weather was going to be cold, but we prepared for it properly.
Our friend Eugene was on his way back to Portland after taking a week off to ride his motorcycle to Southern California. He planned to meet us in Bend and he picked out an amazing campsite with a clear view of Mt Jefferson and Mt Hood. We made a fire and watched the sun set.
The next morning we saw pelicans swimming on the reservoir while we made breakfast. After we packed up and drove to the Cascadia Vehicle Tent showroom in Bend. Steph and I had been debating if a rooftop tent is what we want to get and it was great to be able to touch and climb in all the models.
After we left CVT we drove through Sisters Oregon and out to the Willamette National Forest. We heard about
Terwilliger Hot Springs (aka. Cougar Hot Springs) and wanted to check out the geothermal pools. They are a Forest Service managed natural set of pools that cascade down a hill into the Cougar Reservoir. They are clothing optional but everyone was clothed this day. The ppols were packed with people soaking up the 105° water.
