Central Oregon

We kicked off the camping season with a weekend trip to Central Oregon.

We explored the Clarno Palisades in the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Here you can see fossils of plant life in the rocks from an eruption that took place over 45 million years ago. This area was once a lush semi-tropical rainforest environment. We also stopped in Shaniko, OR which is a ghost town. Shaniko's heyday was back in the early 1900's when gold was discovered. Every time we explore Central Oregon, we are still able to find something new to see.
